Top Interior Trends for 2017

Let’s face it, 2016 was a pretty stylish year for interior trends and as modern life gets busier the more our homes are turning in to our sanctuaries.

2016 interior trends really reflected our need to switch off and slow down and colours were warm and calming.

2017 however is going to have a big shake up when it comes to how our homes look.

So whether you’re getting ready to move in to a new home or you’re looking for something a little bit different for the new year, here are the trends you’re going to want to look out for and what to avoid for the coming year…

What’s in

Terracotta

Ditch the cool blues and white tones because warm and rustic terracotta is IN.

Don’t worry, it’s not going to be going back to the 80’s trend of terracotta tiles for walls and floors, instead, we’re talking natural matt finishes and feature walls.

Dark Green.

Leafy greens won’t just be adorning your post christmas plate, they’ll also be making an appearance on your walls too. Dark green is set to replace the navy we loved so much in 2016. Think dark green walls in the bedroom for a Scandinavian feel along with brass lamps, natural linens and faux fur rugs.

Cork

You may not believe this but cork can add warmth and texture to any room. It’s also great for large spaces as it absorbs noise. We are going to be seeing more cork in stools and side tables as well as being used to clad entire walls - perfect for your home office.

UpCycle

We’re not too sure that up-cycling has ever gone out of fashion but in 2017 reusing, repurposing and up-cycling will remain a key trend. In a world where most items are disposable, reusing furniture will create a sense of balance.

Fabric headboards

Metal bed? Timber frame? Be gone. 2017 will bring back the mighty headboard.

No bedroom will be complete without an upholstered bedhead. Think luxury hotel room and you’ll be on the right lines.

Jewels

It is time for pastel pink and blues to move on because jewel tones are back.

Inspired by metals, cosmos and stars these metallic quartz shades will add a dash of

sparkle and intrigue in to any space.

Time to say goodbye

Copper

Just as we were starting to embrace the rose quartz and copper combo, this will be sent on its way in 2017. This polished look will be replaced by dark metal such as black steel.

Marble.

Marble will always remain a classic when it comes to kitchen countertops but for accessories, it is definitely time for a change.

2017 will look towards more earthy textures such as wicker, clay and timber.

Quotes.

Your instagram feed may still be full of these quotes but they will no longer have a place in your home. Instead go for bold prints or images that reflect escapism.
